Using mutual dating apps is difficult. It is however important if you are single and looking forward to go out for a date, that you learn and improve. If not the perfect match, you might get to befriend tons of amazing people to share good quality time with.
As per the relationship coach and expert Erika Ettin, having a lot of unanswered messages on your social dating app is bad. It shows how you are not grateful or serious when it comes to finding love. Ettin really vouches for dating apps and strongly believes that the online dating apps, like for so many others, can eventually provide you with your potential life or relationship partner. In this article, Erika would take you slowly through all the dos that you should follow while using mobile dating apps.
Ettin said, “You’ll find an exception to every rule, but my background is analytical, and I’m an analytical person. So if something works 99% of the time, that’s what I’m going to recommend. You’ll always find the 1% and that’s fine, but I’d rather give you a better chance.”
Most of the mistakes that we make are surprisingly simple lets overview all that we may do wrong while using a dating app and improve our online dating scenario.
A common misconception is that an incomplete profile makes you mysterious. It may attract attention, and the dating app would work for you, but then it doesn’t. This is because in reality, you’ll be perceived as either boring or lazy, while allowing your potential partners a full reason to move on ahead.
Ettin says that it does not essentially matters about the attractions in your pictures, if your bio is incomplete or empty there is no use of being on a social dating app. She said, “So it doesn’t take much. I only recommend 20-40 words on a dating app. 20 words is not that many, and you can write anything.”
You can write simple introduction about what you do for a living, two truths and a lie, a few bullet points – anything that makes you interesting. Literally anything is better than no words at all.
One of the greatest myths is that on online adult dating apps, women prefer men who are taller. They have set some standards, and anyone shorter than that height simply does not matter. This is wrong and not true. She says, “When men only list their height, it’s as if that’s the only thing to offer in this world. I’m sure some people who care about height are appreciative of that, but seriously is that the only thing? It’s insulting! Like, wow he’s a catch, he’s 6ft tall, but maybe he was in jail last year.”
If a dating app allows you to put on some nice pictures, there is no point in putting all of your pictures up at once, as per Ettin a maximum of 3 to 4 pictures works best for your favor while dating on a dating app. As per Erika’s views, people have a habit of looking it all and every picture, and it they find one that they don’t like they may have the tendency of dismiss a potential match. It is hence advised by her to not to put up any more than 4 to 5 pictures on your dating app profiles.
Show your Face
The first thing a person wants to see if looking at the photos on a dating app is your face this is because it is the only way to recognize you, this way people would have ease in recognizing and recalling you. No more pictures with side poses, look dead in the camera.
In a virtual world where the people are making a snap decision, about your dating life, if your picture is irrelevant or blurry or in some way hiding your face, it is better you removed it and replaced with a picture that would attract people.
No Full Body-length pictures
It is important that while on a dating app, it is important that you may show off your physique with a body picture. But it is not advised at all. As per Erika, people are constantly looking for corrections, they compare and make assumptions about you based on your pictures, making your situation a bit tricky. Don’t put a full body picture and save yourself from assumptions people make.
It works in your favor to post a full body picture, because otherwise people will jump to conclusions. “People want to see a full body picture because when assumptions are made they’re usually not the most favorable assumptions,” Ettin said. “So don’t let them make those assumptions.
Portray what you are passionate about
Even if you don’t exactly have a clichéd photo of you skydiving or doing some extreme sport, you should still put up a photo of you doing something that portrays your interests. This makes things and conversations to be very easy and fast. When people see you doing something they ask you about it. Hence it makes a perfect idea to showcase a picture that is needed to break the ice for the person matching with you, because it would generate questions.
Erika says, “I call that message bait. Basically you’re putting bait out there, the person writing to you feels brilliant that he or she used the bait, but really you planted it there.”
For instance, if you do public speaking add a photo of you at a microphone. Or if you play a sport, try and find an image of you doing that.
On dating apps, use solo pictures only
Erika never recommends posting pictures with other people in them on your online dating app. She accepts however that she has always got a lot of complaining against it, as people mention sharing those pictures with best friends reminding them of good and happy times. But as a rule, people expect you to have friends, there is no need to put a stamp on it by putting a picture on the online dating app.
It is important that you realize that you already are being compared to everyone on the dating app, why would you increase competition for yourself?
These are some fun but unique tips that one should keep in mind while putting themselves up on online mature dating apps, make sure that you follow them and increase your chances of getting closer to the love of your life.
